Hi, I’m Michelle Smith. I’ve been a hair stylist and business owner for over 20 years. That’s a lot of hair! Clients with different styles, personalities, and attitude. Many don’t notice how we play the role of confidant to so many women. In meeting and servicing so many people I started to see our similarities and accept our differences. We as women have a lot of the same issues only packaged in different ways.
I began journaling with hopes of creating a book to uplift and inspire women of all ages. One day God spoke to me and said, this was not the time for the book, and to put my message on a t-shirt. I in no way claim to be a saint or all-knowing of scripture. Anyone who really knows me knows I’m Chelle, your homegirl next door. But I have learned that when He speaks, you listen. And as much as I had no desire to sell t-shirts, of all things, I chose to be obedient.
The more I put the wheels in motion of following what His plan was for me, the more the vision became clear. That was to enhance the mindset of women by encouraging them to grow into the lady they were meant to be, but may not have been taught how. I wasn’t shown. Growing up and even as an adult, I was very rough around the edges but I always had the qualities and potential to live as a lady. You’re dressed nice, but where is your head, how is your heart? And that’s where my vision was born, Skirts and Pumps, It’s a Mentality. I wake up everyday filled with joy and I want that for all women. I’ve accepted the call to serve. It’s a mighty big thing to be able to bless, inspire, and encourage through your words and actions. I am up for that task every day!
